SUITABILITY: On one hand, Masumi is stubborn and will be (initially at least) trying to find a way to get the yokai out of her body and go home so that she can resume helping her mom out. She’ll also be reluctant to do what the yokai tells her to do, let alone use the mask.
On the other hand, she’s a detective and will be drawn to trying to figure out the mysteries of the game setting. On top of that, since many of the mysteries she solves at home are murder mysteries, I suspect that the first of the mental effects from her kitsune possession to be an increased desire to ‘punish the wicked’, and will likely eventually become far more mischievous than she normally would be.

QUESTIONNAIRE:

● Your character finds an injured okami deep in the woods. Its leg is broken, trapped under a fallen tree, but it’s clearly in good health otherwise. They know this type of youkai is able to discern the morality of their past actions, and can turn hostile to them based off that judgment. What do they do?

● Your character's worst enemy asks to meet alone by moonlight in a remote location, to discuss temporarily banding together against a larger threat. How do they respond to the invitation?

● Your character has the option to lead a rampaging oni away from path where it would find and attack a lone, inhabited farmhouse. However, the only road they can distract it down leads to the city, where it will inevitably do more damage. What do they choose to do?

● A shrine of a powerful god offers your character a unique boon crafted to overcome the biggest challenge they’re currently facing. In return, it only asks to be able to possess your character for a 24 hour span of its choosing, which they will not necessarily get warning for. How do they feel about the exchange, and more importantly, do they accept it?

1. While Masumi believes that she’s a good person, she would be very wary around the okami and ready to back off, should it turn against her. She would help the okami though, primarily through freeing it and trying her best to splint the leg, would be very polite the whole time, and would likely pick up confidence over time if allowed to help. That nervousness over being attacked would never go away though, and she will be quick to back
off once done, just in case.

2. She would have very little trust in that person, and while she would turn up if only out of sheer curiosity, she would have intensively prepared beforehand. She would have told people where she’s going, who she’s meeting, and when she thinks she’ll be back, would have a phone ready to call for help should it come to it, and would be dressed for a potential fight. She would also be ready to fight in a heartbeat (perhaps a bit quick to lashing out in defense, but better lashing out first than regretting it later or worse) should she think she’s in danger and would make no secret of her mistrust towards who she’s meeting. In addition, she would likely only agree on her terms, and would hold info she thinks doesn’t need to be shared back out of mistrust/would only talk about what needs to be discussed.

3. Oh boy, the trolley problem! If at all an option, Masumi would try to sneak ahead to alert the residents of the farmhouse of the danger. If not, she would very reluctantly let the oni find the farmhouse, out of a desire to have as few casualties as possible and a belief that the only way to accomplish that would be to keep the oni away from the city. However, she would prefer no casualties, and letting the oni find the farmhouse would end up keeping her awake at night, wondering if there was any other option she could have taken, any way to save everyone from the oni. There would likely be some degree of self blame over letting innocent people get injured or killed, even if it was the only way to save everyone else.

4. Given what her biggest challenge is, (reversing her mom’s poisoning) Masumi would be extremely reluctant to share that info with the god, and even more reluctant to accept such a deal. She’d be worried about it being some sort of genie situation where she ends up possessed at the worst possible time with no way out, or being forced to do things she doesn’t want to do while under possession. As such, she would only accept if she truly felt that there was no other possible way to resolve that problem without such a boon, and would be far more likely to refuse and insist on handling things herself.

YOUKAI: Kitsune (Very chatty, tends to not shut up for long, wants Masumi to actually wear the mask at pretty much every possible opportunity, very keen on committing mischief as kitsune tend to be.)
INVENTORY:
-One (1) smartphone. It’ll become a very pricey paperweight once it runs out of charge and likely won’t connect to any network even when it has charge.
-One (1) hat. It’s a blue brimmed hat, with nothing particularly special about it. Masumi likes it since her brother wore similar hats.
